Health Check

You will get to know your pet’s normal behaviors. If you see something you’re not sure of, check it out with your veterinarian. And between visits, it is important that you do regular tip to tail checks:

·Eyes should be clear, bright and full of life.

·Check for broken, missing or stained teeth, gum condition, excessive tartar and odor.

·Give the ears a once-over to ensure that there is no discharge, inflammation, dirt, excessive wax or hair growth.

·Skin and coat should be free of lumps, abrasions, irritations, dryness and abnormalities.

·Genitals should be free of irritations, growths, swelling and should not be excessively warm.

·And, check the anus for worm segments. (If you see anything that looks like spaghetti or rice, it's not spaghetti or rice!!)

Be on the lookout for anything that is out of the ordinary such as sluggish behavior, eating, urinating or defecating more or less or unusual discharges in the urine or feces. For extra precaution, consider taking a pet first aid class.
